News for METRO VANCOUVER — Evergreen line Update

The opening of the Evergreen Line has been delayed to the fall of 2016

The rapid transit line was supposingly scheduled to open around the summer of 2016; however,  a recent news has been released from the Ministry of Transportation saying the tunnel construction process has been slower than anticipated.

According to the ministry,  the $1.4-billion SkyTrain line remains on budget.   The contractor who has been responsible for tunnel construction is responsible for all costs related to the delay.

In fact,  it is more than half of the Evergreen line being completed, which includes more than 30 % of the tunnel-construction process.

This project was approved in 2011 by the regional mayor’s council.    The evergreen line will connect from Lougheed town centre, then along North Road to Port Moody, then passing Port Moody to Coquitlam City Centre.   In Lougheed town center station,  this evergreen line will also connect to the existing Expo and Millennium Lines.
